Week 02 (Atlanta) Fantasy Racing Online Wrap-Up

hero-fohqt500There’s going to be fans on both sides of the fence for this race, but I’m going to guess that the majority of you loved the racing that we saw at Atlanta on Sunday. I’m personally excited to see how this 2016 season unfolds with this new low downforce package.

For those of you that read my “Race Day Betting Picks” article and went with Jimmie Johnson…congratulations. It feels good to win two bets in a row. I think I won a total of two all of last season! There was A LOT of content posted here at Fantasy Racing Online over the weekend, and from the look of the traffic numbers, I think those that read it, enjoyed it. So I will continue to offer Fantasy NASCAR advice free of charge over here. More in-depth analysis from me can be found over at ifantasyrace.com, and Ryan Rantz posts TONS of great content over there as well. Give it a try!

The Showcase

jimmie-johnson-burnout-atlantaThe most picked driver when it came to the All Star selection was Kurt Busch, and I have a feeling the 3 pole bonus points had something to do with that. That bonus, along with the handicap points, seem to be doing what I intended them to do: create many different rosters. A total of 17 drivers were selected as the All Star Driver at Atlanta, with Kevin Harvick (30) and Matt Kenseth (29) the other popular options. Coming in 4th for most picked All Star Driver was race-winner Jimmie Johnson (23).

BOOMER SOONER 2 took home the win in The Showcase at Atlanta and will receive the $60.00 prize. This team was also Chase eligible so we officially have our second Chaser here at Fantasy Racing Online! Congratulations. BOOMER SOONER 2 had a stellar roster with Kevin Harvick, Kurt and Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and then Jimmie Johnson as the All Star Driver. It’s hard to beat 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th! Great picks.

Salary Cap Challenge

Whew! What a close one. Motley Crew barely edged BB Racing (276 points to 275) this week for the win. After 2 of 36 races, there’s a three-way tie for the lead.

Prizes for the Salary Cap have been finalized and are listed on the Rules/Prizes page. I still need to go through all of the rosters and double check to make sure everything is accurate (yes, I’m dragging my feet a little on this task). This could change the scoring for some teams, and I SHOULD get this done within the next few days. I’ll let you know if there’s any changes.

Fantasy NASCAR 4×4

Matt Kenseth smiling in garageThis is exactly the kind of race I wanted to happen when I envisioned how the Fantasy NASCAR 4×4 would play out. When the “favorites” have an off-week, like Matt Kenseth and Joey Logano did, you’re going to have some interesting fantasy results. I think this game is going to get very interesting as the season goes on!

16 teams decided to score points at Atlanta. It was Gladiator that scored the most points this week with 170. That team consisted of Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

It looks like 19 teams will be scoring next week at Las Vegas. I’ve added an “Avg Pts Per Race” column to the Leaderboard, which I think is a nice stat to look at other than just total points–especially as we get later into the season.

Up next is Las Vegas, a later race on Sunday. Picks are due by approx 3:45 pm in The Showcase. Good luck!

Jordan

As someone who has always been obsessed with numbers, Fantasy NASCAR has been the perfect fit with me. I pride myself on the quality of my analysis for each race, and am glad that I have been able to help others along the way. I've been a serious Fantasy NASCAR player for over 10 years now, and I'm just getting started.
