It was announced this morning that Bob Osborne will step down as crew chief for the #99 Roush-Fenway Racing team and will be replaced by Chad Norris, a long-time member of the organization. Osborne cited health reasons as to why he will no longer be in the position he’s held (almost completely) since 2004. In 2006, Jack Roush wasn’t happy with the performance of Edwards and Osborne and switched the crew chief over to the then #26 team of Jamie McMurray. Bob was back with the #99 team before the end of the year. The duo has won 18 Sprint Cup races together and has finished 2nd in points twice.

Chad Norris was in charge of Roush-Fenway’s R&D team and recently had some crew chief experience when he led the #6 crew and driver Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. in this year’s Daytona 500.
